The Importance of Personal Marketing

When I first began teaching at Saint Vincent College in 2005, I introduced a personal marketing strategy assignment to demonstrate to students how to build their brand using elements of the marketing mix. Since then, advanced technologies have expanded opportunities, and challenges, for personal branding.

One of my former employers, PricewaterhouseCoopers, has launched an entire campaign around personal marketing titled, Personal Brand Week. As part of their efforts, PwC has also developed an insightful Personal Brand Guide.

Although these resources are focused toward undergraduate students, the Guide in particular offers excellent tools to allow you to better understand the fundamentals of your brand as well as social media tools to expand the reach of your brand.
